Ernesto Miranda was a Mexican-American man who became famous for his involvement in a landmark legal case in the United States. In 1963, he was arrested for kidnapping and rape but was not informed of his rights to remain silent or to have an attorney present during questioning. This led to a confession that was used against him in court. His case, Miranda v. Arizona, reached the U.S. Supreme Court in 1966.
