Eritrean National Liberation Front
The Eritrean National Liberation Front (ENLF) was a political and military organization formed in the early 1970s to fight for Eritrea's independence from Ethiopia. It emerged during a period of increasing resistance against colonial rule and aimed to establish a sovereign Eritrean state. The ENLF played a significant role in the Eritrean War of Independence, which lasted until 1991.
The ENLF was one of several groups involved in the struggle for Eritrean independence, alongside the more dominant Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF). After Eritrea gained independence in 1993, the ENLF's influence diminished, and it eventually became less active in the political landscape of the newly independent nation.
