Erie-Lackawanna Railroad
The Erie-Lackawanna Railroad was a major American railroad that operated primarily in the northeastern United States. Formed in 1960 through the merger of the Erie Railroad and the Lackawanna Railroad, it provided passenger and freight services across several states, including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The railroad was known for its extensive network and played a significant role in the transportation of goods and people during the mid-20th century. However, it faced financial difficulties and ultimately ceased operations in 1976, leading to the creation of the Conrail system to take over its assets.
