Erie Lackawanna Railroad
The Erie Lackawanna Railroad was a major American railroad that operated primarily in the northeastern United States. Formed in 1960 through the merger of the Erie Railroad and the Lackawanna Railroad, it provided passenger and freight services across several states, including New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The railroad was known for its scenic routes and efficient service, particularly in the Northeast Corridor. However, it faced financial difficulties in the 1970s, leading to its eventual bankruptcy and the discontinuation of many services. The Conrail system later absorbed its operations in 1976.
