Equine Breeding
Equine breeding is the process of mating horses to produce offspring with desirable traits. Breeders select specific horse breeds and individuals based on characteristics such as temperament, conformation, and performance abilities. The goal is to enhance the qualities of the next generation, whether for riding, racing, or work.
The breeding process typically involves careful planning, including health assessments and genetic evaluations. Once a suitable mare and stallion are chosen, they are bred through natural mating or artificial insemination. After a gestation period of about 11 months, the foal is born, and its development is closely monitored to ensure it grows into a healthy horse.
