Ephraimite
The term "Ephraimite" refers to a member of the tribe of Ephraim, one of the twelve tribes of Israel in the Hebrew Bible. This tribe is traditionally associated with the descendants of Joseph, specifically his son Ephraim. The Ephraimites played a significant role in the history of ancient Israel, particularly during the period of the Judges and the united monarchy under kings like David and Solomon.
Ephraimites were known for their military prowess and leadership, often leading the northern tribes in conflicts. The tribe's territory was located in the central region of Canaan, which included important cities such as Shiloh and Bethel. Over time, the term "Ephraimite" also came to symbolize the northern kingdom of Israel as a whole, especially after the division of the kingdom following the reign of Solomon.
