Enrico Scrovegni
Enrico Scrovegni was a wealthy Italian banker from the late 13th to early 14th century. He is best known for commissioning the famous Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, which features stunning frescoes by the artist Giotto. The chapel was built to atone for his family's sins, particularly the usury practices associated with banking at the time.
Scrovegni's chapel, completed around 1305, is considered a masterpiece of medieval art. The frescoes depict scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary, showcasing Giotto's innovative use of space and emotion. Today, the chapel is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a significant cultural landmark.
