Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). During the procedure, a doctor inserts a thin tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually in the groin. This catheter is guided to the site of the aneurysm, where a stent graft is placed to reinforce the weakened artery wall and prevent rupture.
EVAR offers several advantages over traditional open surgery, including shorter recovery times, less pain, and reduced risk of complications. Patients typically go home within a day or two after the procedure, allowing for a quicker return to normal activities.
