En Dash
An en dash (–) is a punctuation mark that is slightly longer than a hyphen (-) but shorter than an em dash (—). It is primarily used to indicate a range of values, such as dates or numbers, for example, 2010–2020 or pages 10–15. The en dash can also connect related items, like in the phrase New York–London flight.
In addition to its use in ranges, the en dash can replace the word "to" in certain contexts. For instance, it can be used in sports scores, such as Team A 3–2 Team B. It helps clarify relationships and connections between concepts or entities.
