Emperor penguins are the largest species of penguin, standing about 3.5 feet tall and weighing between 50 to 100 pounds. They are native to Antarctica and are well adapted to the cold climate, with a thick layer of blubber and dense feathers that provide insulation.
These penguins are known for their unique breeding behavior. During the harsh winter, males incubate the eggs on their feet under a flap of skin called a brood pouch, while females hunt for food. This cooperative parenting helps ensure the survival of their chicks in extreme conditions.
