Emperor Jitō
Emperor Jitō was the 41st emperor of Japan, reigning from 686 to 697 AD. She was the first woman to ascend to the throne in her own right, following her husband, Emperor Tenji. Her reign is noted for promoting the development of the Japanese state and its administrative systems.
During her time as emperor, Jitō focused on consolidating power and enhancing the influence of the imperial family. She also supported the Taika Reforms, which aimed to centralize governance and improve tax collection. Her leadership contributed to the stability and growth of early Japan.
