Emperor Gensho
Emperor Gensho was the 115th emperor of Japan, reigning from 715 to 724 AD. He was born on 680 AD and was the son of Emperor Monmu and Empress Genmei. His reign is noted for the continuation of the Nara period, a time characterized by the establishment of a centralized government and the promotion of Buddhism.
During his rule, Gensho faced challenges, including political struggles and the influence of powerful court officials. He eventually abdicated in favor of his younger brother, Emperor Shomu, in 724 AD. Gensho's reign, though brief, contributed to the ongoing development of the Japanese imperial system.
