Emmaüs
Emmaüs is a global movement founded in 1949 by the French priest Abbé Pierre. It aims to support homeless individuals and those in need by providing them with shelter, work, and a sense of community. The organization operates various social enterprises, including thrift stores, where donated items are sold to fund its initiatives.
The movement emphasizes solidarity and social justice, encouraging people to engage in volunteer work and support those less fortunate. Emmaüs has expanded internationally, with numerous communities across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, all working towards the common goal of helping marginalized populations regain their dignity and independence.
