Elpidio Quirino
Elpidio Quirino was a Filipino politician who served as the 6th President of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953. He was born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Quirino initially held various government positions, including Secretary of Finance, before becoming Vice President under Manuel L. Quezon. Following Quezon's death, Quirino assumed the presidency.
During his presidency, Quirino focused on post-war recovery and economic development. He implemented programs to rebuild the country after World War II and promoted infrastructure projects. His administration faced challenges, including political opposition and issues related to the Hukbalahap insurgency. Quirino's term ended in 1953 when he was succeeded by Ramon Magsaysay.
