Elm Trees
Elm trees are large deciduous trees known for their tall, straight trunks and broad, spreading canopies. They can grow up to 100 feet high and are often found in parks and along streets. Their leaves are serrated and turn yellow in the fall, adding beauty to the landscape.
These trees are valued for their shade and aesthetic appeal, but they have faced challenges from diseases like Dutch elm disease. This fungal infection has significantly reduced elm populations in many areas. Despite this, some resistant varieties have been developed, allowing for the continued planting of elm trees in urban environments.
