Ellinikon International Airport
Ellinikon International Airport was the main airport serving Athens, Greece from 1938 until 2001. Located in the suburb of Ellinikon, it was a significant hub for both domestic and international flights, facilitating travel for millions of passengers over the decades.
After its closure, the site has been undergoing redevelopment into a large urban project known as the Ellinikon Project. This initiative aims to transform the former airport area into a mixed-use development, including parks, residential spaces, and commercial facilities, revitalizing the region and enhancing its economic potential.
