The Elizabeth Tower, commonly known as Big Ben, is a prominent clock tower located at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. Completed in 1859, it stands at 316 feet tall and features a large clock face on each of its four sides. The tower was designed by architect Augustus Pugin in the Gothic Revival style and has become an iconic symbol of the city.
The name "Big Ben" originally referred to the Great Bell inside the tower, which weighs over 13 tons. The tower is a popular tourist attraction and is often featured in films and media, representing London and British culture.
