Elizabeth Bathory was a Hungarian noblewoman born in 1560, known for her infamous reputation as one of history's most prolific female serial killers. She was accused of torturing and murdering young girls, allegedly believing that bathing in their blood would preserve her youth and beauty. Bathory lived in a castle in Transylvania, where many of these crimes were said to have taken place.
In 1610, after years of rumors and investigations, she was arrested and put on trial. Although she was never formally convicted, she was confined to her castle until her death in 1614. Her story has inspired numerous legends and works of fiction, cementing her status as a figure of horror in popular culture.
