Eleonora di Toledo
Eleonora di Toledo was a prominent figure of the Renaissance, born in 1522 in Spain. She was the daughter of Don Pedro Álvarez de Toledo, the Viceroy of Naples, and became the wife of Cosimo I de' Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Eleonora played a significant role in the political and cultural life of Florence, promoting the arts and supporting various projects.
As a patron of the arts, Eleonora influenced the development of Mannerism in Florence. She was known for her beauty and intelligence, and her marriage helped strengthen the ties between the Medici family and Spanish nobility. Eleonora passed away in 1562, leaving a lasting legacy.
