Electronic Passports
An electronic passport, also known as an e-passport, is a travel document that contains a microchip embedded within it. This chip securely stores the holder's personal information, including their name, date of birth, and a digital photograph. The data can be read by special scanners at border control, making the process of verification faster and more secure.
E-passports also include biometric features, which enhance security by allowing for facial recognition and fingerprint scanning. This technology helps to prevent identity theft and fraud, ensuring that the person presenting the passport is indeed the rightful owner.
