Electromagnetic Locks
Electromagnetic locks, often referred to as maglocks, are security devices that use an electromagnetic force to secure doors. When powered, these locks create a strong magnetic field that holds a metal plate attached to the door, preventing it from being opened. They are commonly used in commercial buildings and access control systems due to their reliability and strength.
These locks are typically activated by a keycard reader, keypad, or other access control systems. When the power is cut, the magnetic force is released, allowing the door to open. Electromagnetic locks are favored for their ease of installation and ability to integrate with various security systems.
