Electrocautery
Electrocautery is a medical technique that uses electrical currents to heat and destroy tissue. This method is often employed during surgical procedures to cut through tissue or to cauterize (seal) blood vessels, reducing bleeding. The device used for this purpose is called an electrocautery unit, which can be controlled to deliver precise amounts of heat.
The process involves a thin metal probe that is heated by an electric current. When applied to the tissue, it can effectively remove unwanted growths, such as tumors, or assist in surgical procedures. Electrocautery is valued for its ability to minimize blood loss and promote faster healing.
