Electra complex
The Electra complex is a psychoanalytic concept introduced by Carl Jung that describes a girl's psychosexual competition with her mother for her father's affection. It is considered the female counterpart to the Oedipus complex, which involves boys. This complex typically arises during the phallic stage of development, around ages 3 to 6, when children begin to identify with their same-sex parent.
In the Electra complex, a girl may develop feelings of desire for her father and rivalry with her mother. This dynamic can influence her future relationships and self-identity. The resolution of the complex is thought to contribute to the development of a mature female identity and healthy relationships.
