Election Commission of India
The Election Commission of India is an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering election processes in India. Established in 1950, it conducts elections for the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and State Legislative Assemblies, ensuring free and fair elections across the country.
The commission is composed of a Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners, appointed by the President of India. It oversees the entire electoral process, including voter registration, candidate nominations, and the conduct of elections, while also enforcing the Model Code of Conduct to maintain electoral integrity.
