Eleanor de Clare
Eleanor de Clare (c. 1292–1337) was a notable figure in medieval England, known for her connections to the de Clare family, a prominent noble lineage. She was the daughter of Gilbert de Clare, the 8th Earl of Gloucester, and Joan of Acre, the daughter of King Edward I. Eleanor married Hugh le Despenser, a powerful nobleman, which further solidified her family's influence.
Eleanor's life was marked by the political turmoil of the time, particularly during the reign of King Edward II. After her husband's execution in 1326, she faced significant challenges, including the loss of her lands. Despite these hardships, Eleanor remained a key figure in the Welsh and English nobility.
