Eisenmenger Syndrome
Eisenmenger Syndrome is a serious condition that occurs when a congenital heart defect leads to high blood pressure in the lungs, known as pulmonary hypertension. This happens when blood flows abnormally from the left side of the heart to the right, causing damage to the lung blood vessels over time.
As the condition progresses, it can result in symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and cyanosis, which is a bluish tint to the skin. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and may include medications or, in some cases, surgery to address the underlying heart defect.
