Efik-Ibibio
The Efik-Ibibio people are an ethnic group primarily located in southeastern Nigeria, particularly in Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and festivals. The Efik and Ibibio languages are part of the Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo language family.
Historically, the Efik were influential in trade and commerce, especially during the 19th century when they engaged in palm oil production and the slave trade. The Ibibio people have a strong tradition of storytelling and oral history, which plays a vital role in preserving their customs and beliefs.
