Efik people
The Efik people are an ethnic group primarily located in southeastern Nigeria, particularly in the Cross River State. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and festivals. The Efik language is part of the Benue-Congo branch of the Niger-Congo language family.
Historically, the Efik were involved in trade and were significant players in the transatlantic slave trade. They established the city of Calabar as a major trading port. Today, the Efik people continue to celebrate their traditions while also engaging in modern economic activities.
