Efe Pygmies
The Efe Pygmies are a group of indigenous people living in the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are known for their small stature, typically averaging around 4.5 to 5.5 feet tall. The Efe primarily rely on hunting, gathering, and fishing for their subsistence, utilizing their deep knowledge of the forest to find food and resources.
Traditionally, the Efe live in small, mobile bands, which allows them to adapt to the changing environment of the rainforest. They often engage in trade with neighboring agricultural communities, exchanging forest products for cultivated goods. Their rich cultural practices include music, dance, and storytelling, reflecting their deep connection to the forest.
