Edward the Martyr
Edward the Martyr was an English king who ruled from 975 to 978 AD. He was the son of King Edgar and Queen Wulfrun, and he became king at a young age after his father's death. His reign was short-lived, as he faced opposition from his half-brother, Aethelred, who later became king.
Edward was known for his piety and commitment to the Christian faith. He was murdered in 978, and his death led to his veneration as a martyr. He was later canonized by the Catholic Church, and his feast day is celebrated on March 18.
