Edward Burnett Tylor
Edward Burnett Tylor (1832-1917) was an English anthropologist known for his contributions to the study of culture and religion. He is often regarded as one of the founding figures of modern anthropology. Tylor introduced the concept of cultural evolution, suggesting that societies progress through stages from primitive to advanced forms.
Tylor's most significant work, "Primitive Culture," published in 1871, explored the development of human beliefs and practices. He defined culture as a complex whole, including knowledge, beliefs, art, morals, and customs. His ideas laid the groundwork for future anthropological studies and influenced the understanding of ethnology and social sciences.
