Edward Alleyn
Edward Alleyn was an English actor and theatrical entrepreneur born in 1566. He is best known for his performances in the plays of Christopher Marlowe, particularly in roles like Tamburlaine and Doctor Faustus. Alleyn was a prominent figure in the early days of English theatre and played a significant role in popularizing the art form.
In addition to acting, Alleyn founded the Rose Theatre in London, which became a key venue for performances during the late 16th century. He later established the College of God's Gift in Dulwich, which provided education for poor children. Alleyn's contributions to theatre and education have left a lasting legacy.
