Education in Italy
Education in Italy is divided into several stages, starting with scuola dell'infanzia (preschool) for children aged 3 to 6. This is followed by scuola primaria (primary school) from ages 6 to 11, and scuola secondaria di primo grado (lower secondary school) from ages 11 to 14. Education is compulsory for children from 6 to 16 years old.
After lower secondary school, students can choose to attend scuola secondaria di secondo grado (upper secondary school) for three to five years, which prepares them for university or vocational training. Higher education institutions, including universities, offer a range of programs and degrees, contributing to Italy's rich academic tradition.
