Ectrodactyly
Ectrodactyly is a rare genetic condition characterized by the absence of one or more fingers or toes. This condition can affect the hands, feet, or both, leading to a split or cleft appearance. It is often inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning only one copy of the mutated gene from a parent can cause the condition.
The severity of ectrodactyly can vary widely among individuals. Some may have only minor deformities, while others may experience significant functional challenges. This condition is sometimes associated with other syndromes, such as Ectrodactyly-Ectodermal Dysplasia-Clefting (EEC) syndrome, which can involve additional physical anomalies.
