Economic and Social Council
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is one of the six main organs of the United Nations (UN). Established in 1945, its primary role is to promote international economic and social cooperation and development. ECOSOC facilitates discussions among member states and coordinates efforts to address global challenges, such as poverty, education, and health.
ECOSOC consists of 54 member states elected for three-year terms. It meets annually to review and provide recommendations on various issues, ensuring that economic and social policies align with the UN's broader goals. The council also collaborates with numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders to enhance its impact.
