Eastern Pipistrelle
The Eastern Pipistrelle is a small bat species found primarily in the eastern United States and parts of Canada. It typically weighs between 5 to 8 grams and has a wingspan of about 22 to 25 centimeters. This bat is known for its distinctive yellow-brown fur and small size, making it one of the smallest bats in North America.
Eastern Pipistrelles are nocturnal and primarily feed on small insects, such as moths and beetles. They often roost in tree cavities or under loose bark. These bats are important for controlling insect populations and play a vital role in their ecosystems.
