Eastern Caucasian leopard
The Eastern Caucasian leopard is a subspecies of leopard found primarily in the mountainous regions of the Caucasus area, particularly in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. This leopard is known for its thick fur, which helps it adapt to the cold climate of its habitat. It typically has a lighter coat with fewer rosettes compared to other leopard subspecies.
These leopards are solitary animals, primarily active at night. They are skilled climbers and often hunt deer, wild boar, and smaller mammals. Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Eastern Caucasian leopard is classified as endangered, with conservation efforts underway to protect its population.
