Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker
An Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) is a safety device used in electrical systems to prevent electric shocks and electrical fires. It detects any leakage of current from the electrical circuit to the ground, which can occur due to faulty wiring or damaged appliances. When it senses this leakage, the ELCB quickly disconnects the power supply, protecting both people and property.
There are two main types of ELCBs: voltage Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers and current Earth Leakage Circuit Breakers. The current ELCB, also known as a Residual Current Device (RCD), is more commonly used today. These devices are essential in residential and commercial buildings to enhance electrical safety.
