Ear Anatomy
The ear is divided into three main parts: the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. The outer ear includes the pinna, which is the visible part, and the ear canal that leads to the eardrum. The middle ear contains three tiny bones called the ossicles that help transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear.
The inner ear consists of the cochlea, a spiral-shaped structure responsible for converting sound vibrations into electrical signals for the brain. It also contains the vestibular system, which helps maintain balance. Together, these components allow us to hear and perceive sound.
