Ealdred of Northumbria
Ealdred of Northumbria was a prominent Anglo-Saxon nobleman and the last Ealdorman of Northumbria, serving during the 11th century. He played a significant role in the political landscape of the time, particularly during the reign of King Edward the Confessor and the subsequent conflicts leading to the Norman Conquest.
Ealdred was known for his efforts to maintain stability in Northumbria amid the power struggles between the English and the invading Vikings. He was also involved in the coronation of Harold Godwinson in 1066, which marked a pivotal moment in English history before the Battle of Hastings.
