EPROM
EPROM, or Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, is a type of non-volatile memory used in computers and electronic devices. It retains data even when the power is turned off, making it useful for storing firmware and other critical information. Unlike regular ROM, EPROM can be erased and reprogrammed using ultraviolet light.
To erase the data stored in EPROM, a special device exposes the chip to UV light, which clears the memory cells. After erasure, the chip can be reprogrammed with new data. This flexibility makes EPROM a valuable component in various applications, including microcontrollers and embedded systems.
