EHIC
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is a card that allows citizens of European Union (EU) member states to access necessary healthcare services while traveling in other EU countries, as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. It ensures that holders receive medical treatment under the same conditions as local residents, often at reduced costs or for free.
EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance, as it does not cover all medical expenses or repatriation costs. It is important for travelers to carry their EHIC when visiting other EU countries to ensure they can receive healthcare if needed.
