ECOSOC
The Economic and Social Council, commonly known as ECOSOC, is one of the six main organs of the United Nations. Established in 1945, its primary role is to promote international economic and social cooperation and development. ECOSOC serves as a platform for discussing global issues, coordinating efforts among member states, and providing recommendations on economic and social policies.
ECOSOC consists of 54 member states elected by the United Nations General Assembly for three-year terms. It meets annually to address various topics, including sustainable development, human rights, and social progress. The council also oversees numerous specialized agencies and programs, facilitating collaboration on global challenges.
