Dutch Gin
Dutch Gin, also known as Jenever, is a traditional spirit from the Netherlands. It is made from malt wine, which is distilled with juniper berries and other botanicals. Jenever has a rich history, dating back to the 16th century, and is often considered the precursor to modern gins.
There are two main types of Jenever: Oude (old) and Jonge (young). Oude Jenever has a more pronounced malt flavor and is typically richer, while Jonge Jenever is lighter and more neutral. Both types can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails, showcasing their unique flavors and heritage.
