Dunkleosteus
Dunkleosteus was a prehistoric fish that lived during the late Devonian period, around 358 to 382 million years ago. It is known for its massive size, reaching lengths of up to 33 feet (10 meters) and weighing over a ton. Unlike modern fish, Dunkleosteus had a bony head and powerful jaws, equipped with sharp, self-sharpening plates instead of teeth.
This ancient fish was a top predator in its marine environment, feeding on other fish and invertebrates. Fossils of Dunkleosteus have been found in North America and Europe, providing valuable insights into the evolution of early vertebrates and the diversity of life in ancient oceans.
