Dunhuang Caves
The Dunhuang Caves, also known as the Mogao Caves, are a complex of Buddhist cave temples located near the city of Dunhuang in China. Dating back to the 4th century, these caves are renowned for their stunning murals and sculptures that reflect the rich cultural and religious history of the region.
The site consists of 492 caves, with over 45,000 square meters of murals and around 2,000 painted sculptures. The Dunhuang Caves served as a vital stop along the Silk Road, facilitating the exchange of ideas, art, and religion between East and West.
