Dukes of Guelders
The Dukes of Guelders were rulers of the historical region of Guelders in the Netherlands during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This duchy was significant for its strategic location and rich resources, making it a center of power in the Low Countries. The dukes played a crucial role in regional politics, often engaging in conflicts with neighboring territories.
The most notable duke was Charles of Egmond, who ruled in the 15th century and sought to expand his influence. The duchy eventually fell under the control of the Habsburgs in the 16th century, marking the end of the independent rule of the Dukes of Guelders.
