Duke Henry II of Silesia
Duke Henry II of Silesia, also known as Henry the Pious, was a prominent ruler in the 13th century. He was born around 1196 and became the Duke of Silesia in 1238. Henry II was known for his efforts to strengthen his duchy and promote economic development, as well as for his support of the Catholic Church.
Henry II's reign was marked by his involvement in regional politics and conflicts, particularly with the Teutonic Knights and neighboring territories. He died in 1241 during the Battle of Legnica, where he fought against the Mongol invasion. His legacy includes a reputation for piety and dedication to his people.
