Duke Eric III
Duke Eric III, also known as Eric of Pomerania, was a notable historical figure who ruled as Duke of Pomerania from 1395 until his death in 1459. He was born around 1381 and became a significant player in the politics of Northern Europe during the late Middle Ages. Eric was also a king of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, known for his efforts to unite the three kingdoms under the Kalmar Union.
His reign was marked by both achievements and challenges, including conflicts with the Hanseatic League and internal strife within the union. Despite his ambitions, Eric III faced opposition and was eventually deposed in 1439, leading to a decline in his influence. His legacy remains tied to the complexities of Scandinavian history during this period.
