Duchy of Sponheim
The Duchy of Sponheim was a historical territory located in what is now southwestern Germany. It emerged in the early Middle Ages and was part of the larger Holy Roman Empire. The duchy was known for its strategic location and fertile lands, which contributed to its economic significance.
The ruling family of the duchy was the House of Sponheim, which played a crucial role in regional politics. Over time, the duchy fragmented into smaller territories, and by the late Middle Ages, it lost much of its independence, eventually becoming part of the Duchy of Baden.
